ENERGY STAR Homes Northwest verifier training provides the necessary building science and energy efficiency information to perform verification that a new home's envelope, heating and distribution systems conform to requirements for the ENERGY STAR Homes Northwest program. All individuals and companies that wish to perform verification services in Washington State need to attend verification training.

Details of ESHNW Verifier Training:
The training will be provided by Washington State University Extension Energy Program, the State Certification Organization (SCO) for Washington State. In addition to verifier training, SCOs provide labeling and quality assurance on new ENERGY STAR homes within their respective state, while providing oversight of the verification
process.

The first day of training will provide building science and energy efficiency training necessary for the verification process. The second day will cover the actual verification process, including an on-site mock verification, introduction to the on-line ESHNW tracking system, and the verifier test.

Pre-qualifications for verifier training:
Candidates for verification training shall have at least 2 years of experience in the residential energy efficiency field. Experience in the residential energy efficiency field is defined as one of the following:

1. Employment where a primary activity is installing insulation, building tightening, or energy system related materials and equipment.

2. Employment where a primary activity is conducting residential energy audits or energy analysis.

3. Any of the following:
• Completion of Super Good Cents or Long Term Super Good Cents training within the last 10
years
• BPA Energy Auditor Certification
• RESNET Home Energy Rater Certification
• Equivalent energy auditing or analysis training (to be determined by course instructor)
• Licensed Professional Engineer
• Licensed Architect
• Community College Energy Management Associate Degree


Exemption from first day of verifier training:
Candidates for verification training that have one or more approved certifications may choose to attend only the second day of training, which includes the on-site mock verification, introduction to the ENERGY STAR Homes Northwest tracking system, and the verifier test. Approved certifications are:

• BPA Energy Auditor training
• HERS training - Fee: registration fee required
