Overview of Built Green Programs

Thirty of Washington's counties are currently served by the eleven Built Green programs listed below. Each program is different - some certify only new single family homes; others offer certification for remodels, communities, and multi-family projects. (Townhomes are treated as single family homes for certification purposes. ) In general, 1- to 3-star levels can be verified by the builder or developer; 4- and 5-star levels require hiring an independent third-party verifier.

If your project is in a county not currently served by a Built Green program, check with your local home builders association (click here to see if it's developing one). You may also contact a nearby association's program; most will certify homes outside of their service area in counties without a program.

If you're a member of a local home builders association without a program, help start one! None of the programs listed below would exist without the active involvement of member companies.
