The Built Green Home at Suncadia is a unique project. It is located in the premier four-season resort community of Suncadia. It is a building site where the ideals of the surrounding natural setting are in line with the green building ethic, where homes are designed to be comfortable, durable, environmentally-friendly and cost-effective to own and operate.

Completed in 2006, this stunning mountain lodge-style home combines the best in luxury living with the highest standards of environmental responsibility. Showcased in public tours, a dedicated website, and extensive media coverage, the project has won multiple national awards, including the Best in American Living Award from Professional Builder magazine and Green Project of the Year from the National Association of Home Builders.

Features

The green building components of The Built Green Home include:

Site Development: Limited site disturbance, on-site infiltration, use of pervious pavers and drought-tolerant native vegetation. Trees removed from the site will be milled and used for wood construction components in the home.

Energy: Geothermal ground source heating, radiant floor heating, energy star appliances and light fixtures and higher insulation values.

Health and Air Quality: Use of environmentally friendly building materials, paints, caulking, sealants, and insulation. Interior surfaces which are easy to clean and maintain. State of the art indoor air filtration and cleaning.

Construction Efficiencies: Management of construction waste for recycling. Use of insulated concrete forms and metal roofing to cut down on the amount of raw lumber used in the home and to speed the construction process; use of pre-finished shingles, flooring and woodwork to speed the process and reduce the amount of toxic chemical release into the home.

Surface Materials: Use of innovative, durable, and recycled content or recyclable materials where available. Showcasing some of the finest finish materials available which are both “built green” and very desirable to the discriminating homeowner.
